The University of London, established in 1836, is England's third oldest university — a federal university comprising 17 world-class colleges and 10 specialist research institutes. In 1858, UOL established the University of London International Programmes, making it the world's oldest provider of distance and flexible learning.

Today, over 54,000 students in more than 180 countries study through these International Programmes. Alumni include seven Nobel Prize winners, leaders of Commonwealth countries, government ministers, renowned authors, academics, judges, and business leaders.

LSE is a small specialist university with an international intake and a global reach.
